As Mother's Day quickly approaches I am "running around" getting things accomplished, and one of those things is the Mother's Day project I am doing with all the daycare kids. I ask my oldest to go up to the office and grab all of the poems I have printed out on beautiful card stock to make cards with.
As he comes down he says that he understands the poem except the last line..."But only one mother the wide world over." I explain that it is saying, in all the world you only get one mother. As I watch him process this information I wait for the inevitable and remind myself that I do not need to protect my agenda or even have an agenda, that truth and love with Gods amazing guidance will prevail...he answers with...
"Well ... if your lucky... but some moms die."
I say, "true...or make bad decisions...but I think SOMETIMES, not always, that God intervenes and provides for that need and fills that need...a substitute."
And then with love in his eyes he says, " YOU ARE NOT A SUBSTITUTE MOTHER ... you are my "REAL" mother, Mama!" As he comes over into my awaiting arms and overflowing heart I tell him once again that God truly knew what we ALL needed and that His plan is more than sufficient. "And YOU are NOT my substitute kid, you are my "REAL" kid!"
I wonder how many times in my life I will be reminded that God's plan far surpasses any dream I have ever had?
I am honored to be my precious children's Mama!
Such sweet boys you have. You are one lucky momma. Happy Mothers day.
