And We All Fall Down

This weekend was full of progress and hard work! Getting ready for winter is a big deal in the panhandle of North Idaho.
We started bright and early Saturday morning at Grandma & Grandpa Curto's house. This was the very first demonstration of our new Curto Fall/Spring tradition. In the Fall we are going to put all the furniture, hoses, tools and such, into storage and get their property ready for the many cold months ahead. Prepare the garden, rake leaves, burn the burn pile, cut down any precarious trees, etc. In the Spring we will do the revers.
Then Sunday afternoon was designated for our property. Malcom, Kaelon & I moved over 20 wheelbarrows plum full of soil to various dips and low spots in the "yard", raked it all out, dug up what felt like miles of weed barrier and disposed of it. We put away all hoses, tools, yard furniture, etc. We stored barrels, moved all the garden boxes, and burned a burn pile...all in the poring rain!
While doing this, Chris was taking out and storing air conditioners, organizing the lean to, moving chemicals to the heat room, winterizing the 5th wheel, etc.
As we all stumbled into the mud room soaking wet and absolutely exhausted we decided after our very hot showers we should eat pizza and watch a movie together, then inevitably we would all fall down into our nice warm beds for some well deserved sleep!
We are not quite ready for winter but we are several steps closer...
